Sweet's Online: Building Product Information - A searchable collection of information on building materials based on manufacturer's catalogs, arranged in 16 building trades divisions. The Business Directory of construction may be searched by state and city, name of company and business type.

Resources: American Society of Home Inspectors - Information on problems such aluminum wiring, septic systems, and lead in drinking water. Links to topics such as chimneys and flues, electrical, foundations, heating, plumbing etc. Search local home inspectors certified by ASHI.

Builder Online - For and about the home building industry. Includes searchable house plans and a database of building supply manufacturers.

Building Materials and Wood Technology - This comprehensive site covers construction and related materials. Questions can be answered for free at Ask the Experts.

Code Check: Help with Building Codes - Searchable site for information on construction codes. Covers over 600 common building code violations often with citations to the code itself. Many clear, explanatory line drawings and charts.

Contractor's License Reference Site - An easy-to-use site for either contractors or homeowners. Provides information such as the the licensing requirements, state's licensing agencies, contact information, types of licenses available, licensing fees, and information for out-of-state corporations.
