PROCEDURE FOR WESTFORD TEACHERS TO OBTAIN ADDITIONAL SERVICES
School teachers employed by the Westford Public School System, the Nashoba Valley Technical High School,
Westford pre-schools and Home Schools are provided additional library services in support of educational curriculum and assignments. These teachers are entitled to a Teacher Library Card to be kept on file at the library.
This card entitles the holder to:
Assistance from professional staff in the Youth and Adult, and Information Service Divisions.
Visits from the Library Bookmobile.
Waiving of fees for in-classroom use of videos
Inter-Library Loan privileges for Teachers with an in-state library cards.
Extended Loan periods fro Westford collections only.
TO APPLY FOR THIS CARD
Teachers must fill out a special application form available at the J. V. Fletcher Library Youth Services Desk.
This form must be signed by both the teacher and the principal of the school, Program Director, or the Home School proprietor and returned to the library. Teachers must provide their home address on this form. If a teacher lives out of state they have the option to pay an annual fee of $75.00 for Inter_library Loan service or they can choose to restrict their borrowing privileges to Westford collections only. The traditional size card is kept on file at the Youth Services Desk. A key tag car may be kept by the teacher. Both cards must be marked with the Red Highlighted Line identifier. Teacher cards expire and must be renewed every year in August. Only the person named on the card may use the card.
For teacher cards, deposit collections, class visits, assignment alerts, books and/or video requests, call 978-692-5555 and ask for the Youth Services Division.
Teachers may e-mail Assignment Alerts by going to www.westfordlibrary.org , selecting "Just for Kids" then "Teachers" from the Menu, and then clicking on the "Assignment Alert" button.
Pre-schools, day care centers and kindergartens may request routine Bookmobile visits from the Bookmobile Branch Manager by contacting the J. V. Fletcher Library at 692-5555.
Any teacher may request a tour of the Library or a brief workshop on use of library resources by contacting either the Head of Youth Services or one of the Young Adult Specialists.
