CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS & EVENTS

These events and programs are offered to Westford residents and non-resident Friends of the J. V. Fletcher Library, Inc. Your membership in the Friends of the J. V. Fletcher Library, Inc. makes these programs possible. Have you joined the Friends yet?

2:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Free drop-in for ages 5 and up.
Lego® Club
Come create something fun with Library Legos®. All creations will be displayed in the library until the next time we meet.
Saturday, January 28
Free drop-in all day.
Chinese New Year Drop in Rooster craft
Drop by the Children’s room any time during the day to make a simple rooster craft in celebration of the Chinese New Year. We will have a coloring page for the younger kids.
Friday, February 17
3:30 - 4:30 p.m.
Register online starting Monday, January 30 or call the Children’s Desk at 978-399-2302  This free program is for children in grades 3 to 5.
Fun with STEM!
Tiny robots, lights, buzzers, fans, and a surprise math/science activity.
Saturday, February 18
2:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Free drop-in for ages 5 and up.
Lego® Club
Come create something fun with Library Legos®. All creations will be displayed in the library until the next time we meet.
Tuesday, February 21
2:00 p.m.
Free tickets for ages 5 and up are available starting Monday, February 6. This program is generously funded by the KDK Foundation in honor of Kurt Kelly.
Nappy’s Amazing Shadow Puppets
Nappy delivers a unique and highly entertaining spin on some classic Jack tales (Jack and the Beanstalk, Jack be Nimble, and so on.)  Older kids will especially enjoy his off-the-wall humor.  This is not your ordinary puppet show.

Friday, February 24
2:00 p.m.
Tickets ($2.00).for children and adults are available by phone or in person starting Monday, February 6. This program is for ages 2 and up with their caregivers.
Sing, Laugh, Jump, Clap
Something for the younger kids during February vacation, folksinger and Storyteller Tim Van Egmond will engage the audience in a playful mix of song, movement, and story activities, drawing from a rich repertoire of material from many cultures which reflect the joy of play and celebration.
Drop off: Friday February 24 1:00-5:00
Pick up: Saturday February 25 10:00-5:00
Stuffed Animal Sleepover
Drop off your favorite (or second favorite) stuffed toy with the Children’s Librarians for the Stuffed Animal Sleepover.  What happens at the Stuffed Animal Sleepover does not stay at the library – photos of all the fun will be posted to the library’s Facebook.

Pet a Bunny: Meet and Greet with the 4H Rabbit and Cavy Club
The 4H Club members will be in the Meeting room to answer your questions and you will have the opportunity to meet some very nice bunnies and guinea pigs. Free Drop-In!

Wednesday, April 19
1:30 p.m.
Tickets ($2.00).for children and adults are available by phone or in person on sale Monday April 3. This program is for ages 4 and up with their caregivers.
Captain America
From the Marvel.com website: “In World War II patriotic solider Steve Rogers became the living symbol of freedom, Captain America. Left for dead while frozen in ice, the star-spangled hero with an indestructible shield awoke years later to continue his never-ending battle for liberty.” Captain America will read a story, answer any and all questions, and pose for photos. Youth Services staff will provide some fun superhero crafts too.
Thursday, April 20

Tickets ($2.00).for children and adults are available by phone or in person on sale Monday April 3. This program is for ages 4 and up with their caregivers.
Scooby Doo Creepy Cat Caper Library Mystery
Scooby and the gang will be on hand for another original Scooby Doo Mystery library event. Solve a mystery, play some games, and enjoy some snacks at this fun-filled event.
