These Children's summer reading events are funded by the Friends of the J. V. Fletcher Library, Inc. and also through the generousity of the KDK Foundation (in honor of Kurt Kelly).  Your membership in the Friends of the J. V. Fletcher Library, Inc. makes these programs possible. YAY FRIENDS!

Blast Off with Books! Magic Show with Mike Bent
Our summer reading program kicks off with our favorite magician Mike Bent. This book themed show uses hilarious comedy, amazing magic, games, music, sound effects, AND storytelling to motivate kids to get reading.

Tickets ($2.00) for children and adults are available at the Youth Services desk. This program is for ages 5 and up.

Aliens: Escape from Earth! with the Sciencetellers
During a midnight meteor shower, something mysterious falls from the sky toward Earth, but it’s not a shooting star. Two curious kids venture into the forest to investigate and find a family of visitors from another planet. Chased by a crazy space scientist, they risk everything to rescue the aliens and get them back to their spaceship before it’s too late.
Don’t miss this action-packed and educational alien adventure using science experiments for special effects. It's totally out of this world!

This free drop-in program is for all ages. Please bring a blanket and a picnic lunch. But if it rains, please eat before you come and the show will be in the Meeting Room.
Outdoor Family Concert with Steve Blunt
Library favorite Steve Blunt is here for our first summer concert. Steve delivers a high energy show featuring catchy tunes and bouncy beats. Pack a picnic lunch and dance with us on the grass at the back of the library.

Camp Read-A-Lot
Camp fire stories, singing, and dancing! Program takes place in the Story Hour Room.
Thursday, July 18
11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Tickets ($2.00) for children and adults are available at the Youth Services desk. This program is for grades K and up.
Traveling Makerspace
Don’t worry if you missed this great program in February because Jay returns with his amazing hands-on STEM focused workshop where kids can design, build, test, and play with mechanical doodads, ping pong catapults, exploding popsicle stick snakes, and domino pyramids, just to name a few.

Mary Poppins - In Person!
Mary Poppins will float into the library to dance, tell a story with interactive play, and sing some familiar songs.

Super Cold Science with the Museum of Science
Super-Cold science is a 30-minute presentation about the incredible changes that substances go through when they drastically change in temperature.

Outdoor Family Concert with Ben Rudnick and Friends
New to the JVF, Ben Rudnick and Friends play original songs and traditional material, seamlessly integrating classic Americana with their own unique sound. It’s kids, it’s families, it’s music… live music. Pack a picnic lunch and rock with us in the grass in back of the library.

Creature Teachers with Richard Roth
We never exactly know which animals Rick will bring but you will encounter a variety of fascinating creatures up close and in the library.

Harry Potter's Birthday Party
The Children’s Librarians will host our annual magical Harry Potter birthday party including fun and games in the Meeting Room and a library wide scavenger hunt. Costumes are strongly suggested.

Cosmic Juggling Show with Michael Menes
To celebrate the 50 Year Anniversary of the Apollo Moon Landing, Michael defies gravity by swinging Chinese meteors, juggles the rings of Saturn, and takes everyone on a journey out of this world with his amazing Flying Saucers!. The show will encourage kids to learn about space while sharing the fun and amazing world of juggling arts.

Thursday, August 8
1:30 p.m.
Cupcakes at 1:30 p.m.; the performance begins at 2 p.m. and takes place outside on the grass at the back of the library.
This free drop-in program is for all ages. (If it rains, the concert will  be  in the Meeting Room.)
End of Summer Reading Bash with the Toe Jam Puppet Band
This is our traditional end of summer rollicking high energy show that you will not want to miss featuring original music, laughs, and overflowing with fun. Bring a blanket and your dancing shoes and enjoy the fun outside.
