Thanks to everyone who made the Summer Reading Program a great success and a lot of fun. More than 1,100 kids signed up for the program and almost 2,000 Westford residents participated in our packed program schedule. It all began with school visits by the Queen of Summer Reading and her side kick, R2D2, to the elementary schools graciously hosted by the school librarians at Robinson, Day, Miller, Crisafulli, Nabnasset, and Abbot Schools.
We kicked off the summer events calendar with a lively musical show from Vic 'n Sticks; we were magically charmed by award winning magician Mike Bent; and all enjoyed a truly rocking reading party with musician Steve Bent and author Marty Kelley.
We travelled the globe with pirate Captain Robbie Bones, had some super cool encounters with dry ice and Mad Science, met Red Sox mascot Wally the Green monster, and had an over the top final party with The Toe Jam Puppet Band (and cake!).
We also "cooked" marshmallows over the fire in Camp Read A Lot, dropped in for a huge coffee filter craft, had some lovely outdoor picnics under the Champion Oak, hosted a Fancy Nancy Extravaganza, and added Saturday hours and two family concerts to our summer schedule.
Thanks for helping us make this year an outstanding success!
